Hanger & crash hots...

Morning All:
Nice, simple, great tasting meal! The hanger barely fit on the Small...

Had a pan of Crash Hot Tators on the "working" Large (still waiting to hear from the mothership about the crack in the other Large, but just sent the email today)...

So nice with shredded Asiago just before removing, crispy is GOOOOOD...

Surprisingly EggHatter didn't insist on a veggie, so only meat & tators on the plate...

Even have some leftover hanger steak...maybe steak & eggs for breakfast this weekend...sounds good to me!

Nothing wrong with meat and taters. Looks great. Don't tell anyone, I missed out on the crashed tater lesson. Can you get me up to speed?

Thx

Morning Mike:
Thanks! Crash hots are so simple it's almost ridiculous. My method may be slightly different than others, but here goes...
I nuke the tators until just soft (6 to 8 minutes). I use an air-bake pizza pan (see photo in original post). Pour a layer of EVOO, then add salt & pepper. The tators are then "crashed" using a potato masher. More EVOO on the tators & more salt & pepper. On the Egg indirect at 400 for about 30 to 40 minutes (until crispy). I usually topped with shredded Asiago a minute or two before taking off the Egg. That's it!Have a GREAT day!

Thanks Jay.
Looks something I will try soon. My mom is visiting and loves sweet potatos. Might do that with some yams with butter and brown sugar on top.
Mike -
Jay,
That looks great. I picked up some small purple spuds today to do the same thing. Yum!

Here is the link someone provided a year or so ago.

I boil em like she said - may have to try nuking like Jay said and see if I can tell the difference. Absolutely agree with Jay - crispy is what I am looking for.
Richard -
I'm ordering the pioneer woman cooks cookbook soon so I look forward to trying many of her recipes. I hear the chicken spagetti, lasagna, and pot roast are to die for.
Love your crash hots and didn't mean to digress...lol

Hunting-Fishing-Cookin' on my EGG! Nothing else compares! -
Nice Jay. Hangers are up to 2.34lb.

Looks great Jay! I love hangers but have a hard time finding them. I think I'll put the crashed taters on the to do list, they look awesome.

I found a crack in the base section of my large (circa 1998) last year, part way across the bottom and up the side a little way. Called my dealer and in a short time I had a new base with no fuss. Gotta love the Mothership.

Morning Al:
Thanks! This one came out of the freezer and was dated 2/13/10 so I'm sure it was cheaper than $2.34/lb
I haven't been by RD recently, but probably need to make trip soon.Have a GREAT day!

Morning Dale:
Thanks! The only place I've been able to find them here is at Restaurant Depot and per HungryMan's post it seems the price has gone up recently.
You do need to do the crash hots...too good and too easy not to try!Have a GREAT day!
