Car Wash Mike

Prep time:
5 minutes
Cook Time:
Approx 2 hours.
Pull membrane add rub.
Egg indirect at 350.
You need to flip after 45 minutes.
After an hour and 10 minutes. I foiled meat down in apple juice. Back on egg for 30 minutes.
Sauced. Back on for 10-15 minutes.
Even got a nice smoke ring.
These were spares, but the bend test.
Give it a try.

how were they??
-
Mike, You never said if they were any good!
-
But. can you slow cook a pizza?
-
They were good. They probably cooked quicker also, because it was only a 2.5 lb slab.
Mike -
I am going to try it again. They were good. Give it a try.
Mike -
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, don't even want to even try that.
Mike -
Does this mean you're not going to need so much table space next time??! :woohoo: :woohoo:
-
Hey Buddy, it just means I will need an egg less time. I do think I will try these at a fest. If I can get away.
Mike -
It's nice to know you can do ribs fast. That will open up more possibilities to enjoy those ribs! Thanks for the tip.
-
This was my first attempt with this on an egg. Don't be afraid to try it.
Mike -
Is it worth it? Do you still like the slow way better? I wouldn't sacrifice good ribs for speed of cooking them. Could you tell the difference Mike?
Mark -
Yes. These had a slighty different flavor, from putting the meat side down in apple juice. I am going to try something else next time. The bone side was a tad tough but not tough enough to never try it again. Give it a shot.
Mike -
Your bend test shows a full slab of ribs...all of the "cook" pictures show a slab cut in half....somethin is fishy here..lookin like a snow job..LOL
-
Hey Wess, good eye I didn't catch that one...good job
-
That slab was what I pulled off for the dinner crowd. I threw it in for those that don't know what the bend test is. But it does look fishy.
Mike -
Thanks for taking the time to cook and post. How did they taste and how did they taste to your other ribs?
Kent -
It's all good Mike...just messin with ya as you already knew...
-
Thx Kent,
They were good. They were a little bit sweeter because of the apple juice in foil and meat side down. I used Bluse Hog for sauce. I would not be afraid to cook these at an eggfest and serve them. One of the keys is to start with small slabs anyway. This was a 2.5lb baby back slab.

Mighty kind of you to test the "quick cook" rib method Mike. Will look forward to your other beta rib tests.
-
How is my fav "loney girl"? You getting caught up? I need someone to volunteer to test them out for me at there house and egg. Rib hotline would be open.
Lavaggio auto Mike -
Auto Lavaggio Mike (ALM), it was a great day, Hoss sent me an offical 'loney' button! :silly:
-
Hay Mike, Ya think the foil and liquid is the key to cook'en them at higher temps an faster? You said the upside was a little tough is why I ask. Looks great and the bend test prove it!
-
Looks and sounds good Mike. Thanks for testing it.
But you didn't test this method and it's even faster.

Note that the reviews are all good.
I suspect the Egg temperature would have to be 400° to 450° in order to cook in one hour. What do you think?
If I happen on some inexpensive ribs today I might give this recipe a shot myself, mostly out of curiosity.
Or we could always microwave the ribs and be done with it in 20 minutes using this recipe:

One thing's for sure, there would be a lot of ribs being cooked at Eggfests if they could be done in an hour or two and still be good.

thanks for doing that cook mike. it's good to know that it doesn't take half a day to cook ribs if you are in a pinch.
-
Thanks Mike, will try quick ribs with babybacks soon! I find the recipe very appealing and this will be a fun cook. :cheer:
Jotted down a note; 350/60/30/30, Babybacks :P
Thanks man. -
