Raising grates on an XL BGE, my own take it.

Well guys I spent all of Sunday morning building these rigs for my new XL BGE in preparation for cooking ribs and stuffed chicken breasts. Now some people have told me that there is no way I needed as much cooking surface that an XL had, but let me say that I almost ran out of room when I was cooking that afternoon. Needless to say these rigs came in handy.

XL BGE grid, making legs so I can raise it to the felt line.

On the Egg, grill grate raised to felt line to allow for drip pan and ceramic grill store spider and indirect ceramic plate.

The set up before I poured the lump in and lit the pig furnace.

Making a raised grid to sit on top of the stock XL BGE grid. This is a weber 18.5 inch grate, u-bolts used as legs.

On the grill on top of the stock XL BGE grate that I just put legs on, all fired up with the ceramic grill store spider, indirect ceramic plate and a drip pan with apple juice in it.

I was very happy with how my rigs worked and I used every inch of the cooking space.

Pics of the cook will be posted soon.

Thanks,
