Seal Question

Good morning all,

After 7 happy years of Egg ownwership, I'm facing up to the fact that I have to replace the seal on my Large Egg. Both upper and lower seals need replacing. Do I need to remove the lid to do this properly? I have the spring-loaded hinge and the hardware is quite rusty. I'm afraid that I'll biting off more than I bargained for if I start busting hardware. At the end of the day, however, I want to do it right. Thanks in advance!

No. Go by or call the BGE store and get a new seal kit. It'll contain everything you need except for a scraper. A little scrapping, a little gluing and you will be good to go.

I have an XL and so do both my sons and we replaced the gasket with the Rutland rope style that I buy at our local Ace Hardware for $1.29 per foot. They also sell the 2000 degree Rutland temp adhesive

We only put it on the bottom and it works great
