I just got a Big Green Egg a few weeks ago...loving it so far.

I bought a goose at my farmer's market and I would like to cook it in my BGE, but I have never cooked one, much less in a grill. I saw a photo of someone putting a drip pan under the bird to catch the fat, and was wondering the best way to do that. Any suggestions on how to cook it would also be appreciated. I also would not mind smoking it for part or all of the way.

Thanks!

I know a woman who years ago decided to cook a real goose for her family for Christmas Dinner. She got one at a local butcher shop, went through a lot of preparation to roast this bird, had her family of six all geared up for this special meal :P When it came out of the oven there was about a quart of grease in the drip pan and a bird the size of a small chicken in roasting rack
    They had Colonel Saunders :woohoo:

If you just have the basic Egg, I would buy an aluminum pan to set on the grill, put some water (or wine) in the pan and then set a roasting rack over that.

I like a little mild smoke, like apple, on duck.

You could also buy a grill at some place like Lowes and put that on top of the pan.

I would cook it at 325-350, with that kind of set-up.
