OK I want to do some nice thick ribeyes and some veggies tonight and I need some advice on how accomplish this. I don't know wether to do the steaks first high heat and let them rest while I cook the veggies or do veggies first and put in warm oven and then kick up to high heat and do steaks? Ribeyes are about 1 1/2". Thanks!

  • what are the veggies?
i usually do the steaks first, and then when they are done and resting, i grill long slices of zukes and summer squash. olive oil, salt and pepper is all they get.

they are al dente and done in just a few minutes.

jason, i do the veggies first, then put in oven, kick the temperature up and do the steaks, last night i did zukes, yellow squash, vidalia onions, olive oil and pepper in tinfoil over low heat, basicly steamed them....then kicked up temperature and did steaks. made sure i had plenty of vidalia's so i could put some on the steak. but to really answer your question, you need another egg to do both on.....i am close to getting a small to go along with my large.

LOL, I keep telling the wife I need a medium now!!!!
  • Do the smashed spuds first at 425 for an hour. Put two skewers through the asparagus to make a raft. Then jack up the temperature for the steaks, do the steaks. When the steaks are done they can rest, let the egg cool a bit (if you are doing the steaks trex thats kind of automatic). Put the spuds and the asparagus in for 5 minutes or so flip the raft once.

    A meal I cook regularly.

For baked potatoes I do the potatoes first since they take an hour and then place in warm oven while doing steaks. Last weekend I was doing stuffed portabella mushrooms and did those while the steaks were resting during the TRex method. In other words, I did the high temp sear, then took off the steaks for their 20 minute rest, put the plate setter in and put the mushrooms in while the Egg was cooling down. Then took out mushrooms and placed in warm oven (actually a little more than warm since mushrooms needed a little more cooking) while the steaks finished.

I have two Eggs, but more often than not I only use one on a given evening even when cooking two items.
