FireWire Tips?
Sawbones
Posts: 31
Got my new FireWires in this week, and planning on some kabobs tonight.
Was wondering if there was any reason to keep the tips blunt, or has anyone ground them to a sharper point to make loading easier?

We got some last fall and I agree a little sharpening would not be a bad thing
and think out side the box when using them, I used them to lace up my turduckin at Christmas. worked great for it!!

I got mine off of Woot.com the other day and wondered the exact same thing. Much more blunt than I expected

I used them blunt this time and they worked surprisingly well. I thought they would be tough to load, but they did good on all these veggies even the potatoes

i got mine from woot as well and used them yesterday. i posted a thread with pics, if you are interested.
i thought the blunt tips worked VERY well. i was using mushrooms and tomatos, things that usually give me problems with sharp skewers. the blunt tips went through them with ease and i never split a mushroom, which i had never done before. i figured i would bust the tomatoes, but it didn't...
if i had to guess, i'd say the blunt tips are done by design for a reason.
i'd try them as is before i ground them down. -
I know this is a late reply but there is a reason old craftsmen blunt nails on concrete before driving them into fine grained wood.
