There's much excitement in the house as it looks like my second Butt attempt will be a success, unlike the first when the fire went out in the night. I used the Maverick 73, but I believe my improved firesetting skills made it unnecessary as the egg held all night at 237. But I slept well knowing the alarm "had my back."

My question is setting up the Maverick; I followed all the instructions to a tee, and it was fairly straightforward. But, three times when I picked it up (and was within 20 ft of transmitter) it cleared, beeped, and I had to reprogram it all, resetting to transmitter. First time I assumed I'd erroneously hit a button, but 2nd and 3rd I just picked it up carefully and beeeeeeep. When I went to bed I carried it carefully upstairs like a little baby bird, set it by the bed, no problem. It did leave me a little less than confident.

Anyone else have this experience or have an idea of what I might be doing wrong?
