to celebrate Lance taking the yellow jersey today? On my birthday, no less.

summer squash or sweet potatos (they go yellow a bit when i cook them)[p]for either, plank them (1/4 inch thick). olive oil, both sides, with cracked pepper and kosher salt.[p]lay them over a medium fire, letting them blister and blacken a bit. move to the side if they get a bit too black before being done.[p]we prefer the yam/sweet potato to be a bit al dente.
you'll know when the squash is doen, it'll look, well, um, 'done'.[p]maybe 20 minutes tops, great with steak.

Bananas with a little turbinado sugar and cinnamon. Cut the banana in half and leave the peel on. Cook on grill until soft. Remove, add ice cream, remove peel and enjoy.
