Vidalia Onion Pie Set Up

How do you set up your BGE for the vidalia onion pie? We made a great pie today, but the bottom crust was charred. We put the pan on inverted plate setter. I think we should have put the pan on plate setter upright or maybe raised grid. Please help

    espnga,[p]I do mine on the plate setter upright. You may have been too close to the lump and transferred too much heat. Another way is to put your grid on the inverted plate setter and then the pie on that. I add a pizza stone to this setup when doing several pizzas so the crust doesn't burn.[p]Chuck
