Tonight I wuz..(common word now) sitting beside me small BGE, cooking pork tenderloins, and a song came to me mind. (ST will love that). I betcha he will be first with the answer.
Back to me story...I wuz (that word again) sitting there, beer in hand (Bud light) and me legs wrapped around the small BGE in a cuddly way (it was chilly tonight) warming me arthritic knee joints, (us old timers do have some handicaps) and a song came to mind that fits the BGE perfectly. I would like to nominate it as the official BGE theme song, but first I gotta find out who made it famous. It was a gold song.[p]Back when the Rock and Roll days first started with "Old Swivel Hips himself" (Thats Elvis Presley, for those not familiar)
The song is "Come on Baby, Light my Fire"
Who wrote it, who sang it and what year was it a hit record.
I really don't know! Anybody??

ChAr-WoOdY,
I thought that was Jim Morrison, and THE DOORS. Probably 1969 or 1970?? Try to set the night on....FIYAAA!!!
NB
-
CW,
Robbie Krieger of the Doors wrote it. I think it was on their first album "THE DOORS". 1967.[p]Come on baby, light my lump!

Nature Boy, Wow, your a whiz...is that from memory, or research? Good year for wines also...:-)

ChAr-WoOdY,
What a sweet post, Sir!...every rock N roll fan knows that is was Val Kilmer of THE DOORS who sang LIGHT MY FIRE...
Oh wait...I am confusing Val Kilmer with Jim Morrison....and Holywood with Eletra Records...
It was Jim Morrison of THE DOORS in 1967 in their innagrual album. Val Kilmer portayed Jim Morrison in the movie "The Doors" sometime in thr early 90's.
Sorry for da' confusion...must have been the excessive beer I have had with Cornfed on this friday evening. heeeeee!
ST

ChAr-WoOdY,[p]Styx had a good song too......"Light Up Everybody"[p]Jerry Lee Lewis had: "Great Balls of Fire" (for mountain oyster eaters)[p]The Boss had "I'm on Fire" ( for the accident prone)[p]Neil Young sang: "I see fire and I see rain" (for the inclement weather cooks)[p]Johnny Cash sang "Ring of Fire" (for the polish sausage meals)[p]Anymore out there?[p]BBQ-BoB[p][p][p]
-
oops..[p]It was James Taylor who sings "Fire and Rain".
-
Char-Woody,
Memory on the Doors, and 1968.
When I pulled out the albums, I saw that Krieger wrote it, and it was 1967..[p]I love rock and roll trivia (I am a music fanatic).[p]Thanks for the fun question. BTW, SongDog's has a name that tune game now![p]NB

BBQ-BoB,
A couple more:[p]Jimi Hendrix "Fire: Let me stand next to your Fire"
Crazy World of Arthur Brown "Fire"
Deep Purple "Burn"

Nature Boy, I guess we lit everybody's fire. Good to see everyone in good spirits, and now back to the Pits of Fire, in the BGE...Cheers...!! C~W
"Lets Smoke"
-
Nature Boy,[p]I like R&R trivia too...read 2 "Doors" books and seen the movie......But I thought I read in one of the books that Jim did not want any single writing credits for any of the Doors songs...so on the albums (the ones I have) it says all songs by "the Doors"....maybe I'm wrong.....
-
Nature Boy,[p]Good ones....[p]Also Pat Benetar sings "Fire and Ice" for the cold weather BGE cooks.[p]Lynyrd Skynyrd sings "That Smell" .....for when you have tainted lump.[p]Deep Purple "Smoke on the Water"...when cooking at lakeside...
-
ChAr-WoOdY,[p]Hey...speaking of "smoke"..[p]Cheech and Chong made a movie "Up in Smoke".....but it was not about cooking.....maybe I should not go there....sorry.
-
ChAr-WoOdY,
It was first recorded by Jose Feleciano in 1967
He wrote most of his songs so i would guess he wrote that one too. Its available for download for free if your interested. Let me know.

-
