No idea what southern fried chicken is but I knew it was marinaded in buttermilk. Did that last night with some pepper. No idea after that. Took the chicken out of the buttermilk and rolled in flour.
Dipped it in a buttermilk and egg mix and rolled in whirred Kellog's corn flakes and sprayed with olive oil. Put 11 different herbs and spices in the corn flakes

It's wierd how you really go through withdrawls when you don't have an egg around. Where abouts are you?
-
Nice lookin yard bird Steve. Although I'm technically south of the Mason Dixon line, NoVa thinks it is part of the north... So we probably wouldn't know anything about good southern fried chicken either!
-
You may talk funny and have a strange way of fishing but me thinks you would make a pretty good Coon A$$/redneck!! With the way you spice stuff up and now this you just might get accepted round these parts!
Man you got to come to OK next year!! -
Steve you did it again

Nice job improvising! -
Steve:
That looks real good, but where is the deep fryer full of oil? -

Das some good lookin barnyard pimp :woohoo:

You are missing the cornbread, the tomato sould be sliced (not quartered) and a slice of onion. Other than that, the faux fried chicken looks pretty good. Oh yeah, a bowl of pintos is a must.

Steve, I think that is my favorite way to do chicken. -RP
-
Randy,
Do you cook them direct or indirect? Looks like Steven is doing a hybrid of sorts, with all those grids. :S -
Adam,
The grid they are on in mine is just a kitchen grid. I didn't want to handle them after the coating cause it would fall off. It's sitting on the adjustable rig.

I do them indirect on a raised grid at 350 dome temp. -RP

I need to learn not to read some of these threads before lunch time... makes me hungry... looks good though... I may have to try that myself.
-
Randy,
Do you soak it overnight im buttermilk? Seems to plump the chicken up a lot.

Steve:
Just this very morning I was looking at a really good magazine of Chicken recipes (wish I could remember what it's called) and a recipe that stuck out was a fried chicken recipe with the chicken soaked in buttermilk. Then, low and behold, you went and done it! What a coinkydink!
