I'm about to plank grill some salmon and also want to grill some pineapple. Never done either before. Here is my set up.
400 degree dome temp. I'm going to brush the salmon with some olive oil and lemon juice, sprinkle with salt and fresh ground pepper and cover with a few thin lemon slices.
I was going to let this cook for 20 minutes sprinkling with more lemon juice at about 15 minutes.[p]Can I cook the pineapple at the same time on the grid or should I wait and cook at a different temp. I figure they won't take long.[p]Thanks,
John

    Howdy John.
I'd say yes, they will be fine at 400. Just keep an eye on em so they don't start shrivellin' up on you. You want them plump and juicy but seared.
    Have fun!

  • JM3,
if you are doing salmon on cedar planks at 400, keep an eye out. .. 20 minutes will be ok if you want them thourouly cooked throughout. . .my recent experience is that 20 minutes will be a little overdone for my taste. .. if you want them still a little rare in the middle, pull at around 13 - 14 minutes. ..start checking them at this time, and pull when you think they are done enough for your brood...[p]were your planks soaking for a few hours? . . if so, you want to put the planks in the egg and wait about 5 minutes or more till they start 'crackling' a little, then put the salmon on them. .

    JM3,
The recipe for sugar-dipped grilled pineapple says 450-500 for 5 minutes per side. That's a start....
