    Hey JL

Thanks. It's funny but mom is very tolerant of photographers or at least this one. A couple times I have taken my eyes off them and looked back to find her at my feet, within 14", as she scurries around looking for anything to eat. She lets the chicks get so close that I can't focus my camera on them and I have to wait for them to move back. I have a 1500mm lens and can't get that close anyways. I have always had great respect for their space and make sure not to crowd them or to let anyone else crowd them while I am there.
It is the people that are not aware of them that are the hazard. The birds are so small and so well camouflaged that you could walk right through the middle of them and never know it. The other day a lady came jogging up the beach headed straight for them. I did not see her in time but the other photographer that was there at the time saw her and started to yell at her to get her attention. He was a big man yelling at the top of his lungs and she just ignored him. I think she had her stereo so loud she was oblivious to anything around her. She ran right through the Plovers. Mother Plover panicked and ran about with her wings spread trying to protect the chicks and the chicks all scattered in different directions. Fortunately none of them were hurt, just scared. It was a very close call. I have pointed them out to many people that were headed for them unaware and all have been grateful to me. I think because photographers tend to be respectful of their space, tend to move slowly and stay calmly in one space for extended periods of time we are tolerated very well.

Glad to see spring has sprung JL. Fancy is one of the prettiest horses I have ever seen. Glad her melanoma is under control, it's the first time I have ever heard of a horse having it. Your critters always look so happy and healthy it's obvious you take great care of them. Thanks for sharing.

OK, now I'm starving! LOL, Thanks Mike, your photographs are stunning. You new buddy looks fat and happy, that feeder must be well stocked. LOL. I have very few squirrels here and I'm not sure why. I have very few birds around here compared to the rest of the area and suspect it is due to all the development. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like it works just fine! But then I wouldn't be surprised by the catch even without the hat. I have a hunch you know what your doing. :cheer:
One thing I miss about New England is the fishing. I used to eat a lot more fish up there. Thanks for sharing.

I'll bet there's more than a little modesty involved there. With a hook in the water that much you've had to have learned a lot, you must mean "it's all in the hat." ;)
    Nice hat by the way.

Gary I'm no grass connoisseur, but if I remember well I asked the gardner to put Floratam (Developed by the Univs. of Florida & Texas A & M)when I first planted it. St. Augustin is also very popular here.

Tilley makes the best hats. I have 3, although I'm having a problem finding one of them. Hand out information to our patients all the time.

they are a good company, when i wore out the first one i called and asked for a larger size on the replacement, when that one wore out they gave me this one which looks to be stronger with the wax, more durable. im at three as well, the hemp, the t5, and this outback. i used to lose hats off the boat and they sink fast, tilleys float B)
