Need help with moldy egg!!
Chris
Posts: 148
Hope everyone is enjoying a nice 4th weekend! I have run into a new problem with my eggs. I recently moved my eggs from out of the carport to the back porch, from nests to tables. I did not seal my tables, thus I leave them uncovered (as it says it is okay). The last two times I have gone to use them, I opened them up to find a tremendous amount of mold growth in the eggs. Do you think water is getting in? Shouldn't be! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Happy fourth of July!

Chris,[p]Well, as far as I know, moisture is required for mold growth. Although I'm not an expert in mold.[p]Either way, a high heat should get rid of it. The only time mine molds up is when I don't use it for a while. Perhaps you just need to BBQ more?[p]

Chris,[p]As James suggested just toss in some lump and let it get nuclear hot. Will be gone in no time![p]mSharque

Chris,
I've heard of the mold before, but usually it is from non use in a damp, warm climate. We don't have that problem here because it's usually too cold to grow mold. Speaking of the cold, tonight would be a good night for a light jacket. It would help with the hint of cool air, and also keep the mosquito's (somewhat) at bay.[p]Now, we do have a problem with the dome freezing shut...I have eggsperience with that! No good.[p]Like you were advised...heat it up HIGH and burn all the bad out of it.[p]Mike in MN

Chris,
The water that is causing the mold is probably from things you put in the egg as opposed to water getting in. (ie. Wet wood chunks, meat drippings, probably some water in the charcoal too.) Either way it is nothing to get too excited about. Although, it can be unsettling the first time you see it. The nuclear hot remedy is the cure. Good Luck!
