Cooking time for two butts?

My apologies - I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't locate it.[p]I'm cooking two Boston Butts 1 - 4.95 lbs and 1 - 4.02 lbs, using Brandt's recipe and 225 - 250 degs. (depending upon my temperature control).[p]How long should I cook these?
Thanks for your help.

    Harry,
I'm not sure if you are asking how long in absolute terms or asking how to adjust your cooking time since you have 2 butts instead of 1. If you are asking the 2 for 1 question, as long as the butts are separated in the cooker, they should take roughly the same time as one.[p]TNW

    The Naked Whiz,
Thanks, that is very helpful. ON that basis, I assume adjust cooking time for the largest one. Based on your experience, what would you allow for time?[p]Thanks again,
    Harry

    harry,
I've only cooked 7 pound butts and one time they took 20 hours and another (when I let the temp get away and up to 300) they took about 13 hours. I think 2 hours per pound is a rule of thumb, but I think smaller cuts go longer than that if you are going by the internal temp and don't push it through the plateau. As long as you plan so that they might finish early, you should be ok since you can foil them and put them in a cooler with towels for up to four hours or so.[p]TNW
