Replacing the gasket - How long till I can cook?

I need to replace my gasket/seal on my BGE. I used the bottom of an old t-shirt last week as an emergency gasket, and it worked GREAT. (wet it first).[p]If I buy a new gasket, does it need to dry or anything first until I can cook again? If so how long? Is it a lengthy process?

when i replaced mine, i use the bge gasket. ..really easy to apply. .. i stuck it on one evening and close the dome to let the weight make sure it adhered really well, and cooked the next day. .. .but i don't know of any reason not to light up soon as you apply it. ..

Just replaced mine a couple weeks ago with the BGE gasket and if I remember correctly the instructions said to wait 24 hrs.
