Molly inspired me last weekend; trout season open here last week and we had a nice honker to experiment with; I didn't take any pics, because I honestly didn't know it would turn out. Well let me tell ya...it was amazing! I coated it with kosher salt on Saturday; rinsed it and marinated in soy sauce, honey, brown sugar and lemon juice on Sunday...smoked it with apple chips last night at 190/200 for about five hours. We put it in the fridge and had appetizers tonight... Here is a fairly lame pic of crackers and cream cheese...one with pepper relish and one with bomba; a little pile of meat cause you couldn't see it too good on top of the crackers. I will do this again and again.

Ok Julia, but next time we want a pic. :)

I love trout, both eating and catching them, having cooked many of them over a campfire with butter, S&P.

Thanks Mark; I am getting the upgraded iPhone soon, which should help some (higher resolution). I would not be posting pics at all if I couldn't do everything via my phone. We will be stocking up on trout, so I'll plan to bring some home! It's the least I can do after eating pounds of your jerky and bbb over time... :);) Im thinking dad will really like it too.

    Julia,

Looks and sounds great. Nothing like smoked trout. Specially the brookies.

    Hoss,

I get down to fish the White with my dad every couple years. I'm due to get after it again soon.

Hey, we also need to nail down a date for the big hunt! :)

Adam, I was talking to Hoss yesterday when he was passing on the top secret, highly classified family 'Loney recipe for me to represent at the Gulf Coast Eggfest and we also discussed the need to set date for the Egghead Hunt weekend.

Would you only be able to come for a weekend, or a day or two on either side of a weekend also? I will need to make advance plans to get off work. He's got a huge allotment of does to harvest per his biologist, and some quail asking to be Egged!
:woohoo: :woohoo: Ducks might be a little slim, but we could look for an outfitter nearby if we wanted to do that one day.

    Clark,

A nice looong weekend is what I had in mind. 4-5 days or so would be nice to have if everyone can pull it off. I don't really care what the dates are, just want to LOCK it in. ;) The rest of the season will be scheduled around the 'egghead hunt'.

I just had a chat with the 'girls'
    41350c24.jpg
They didn't quite understand what a Quail was, but 'BIRD' they do understand and are now almost as whipped up as me. :woohoo:

I will most likely be spending some time laying in cut corn fields of North Dakota this fall, so Ducks are up to you guys. When the phone call comes from the Devils lake area that 'it's time to go'. We go. And usually have them stacked thigh high before the sun clears the horizon. That's another trip that we will have to try and plan for another year with you boys. ;) Oh, then after breakfast, we go and pound on Roodies
