Comfort Food

Pepper Monkey BBQ
Posts: 652
We've been egging for almost three years now. Love the ribs, wings, briskets, pork butts ... have done dozens of pizzas, stir fry's, and countless numbers of steaks. Bacon, eggs .. cookies, bread ... most everything.
But sometimes the mood is right for some comfort food. Not that anything listed above couldn't be considered comfort food, but to us it not only brings back simple childhood memories, but also screams simplicity.
Tonight it is rainy and cold out .. and we spent the weekend entertaining so it was time for simple comfort food. Good old fashion box macaroni and cheese with some smoked turkey sausage. Mac cooked on the stove, sausage on the small with a chunk of mesquite to give it the really good smoke flavor. Gotta love it.
What's your comfort food?

Great looking dish you have there, mmmmmm good.
I need to take some pictures but grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches, they are fantastic on the egg.
Here is grilled tuna melt and some brat's.
I saw these and couldn't help it - going to get some out and put them on now.

mattesoncreations,
Looks amazingly good. I have done mac and cheese on the egg and it is worth it too. Favourite comfort food..Shepherds pie on the egg.

Oh man ... that is one may be my 'kryptonite' ... do you have a recipe????

That looks
pretty darn good.
My favorite cold and reainy meal is gumbo and rice -
Joel,
Not really. I typically use ground beef pork and veal, family doesn't love lamb, brown with fine dice onions, carrots and celery. Add fresh chopped garlic. Add some white wine and reduce. Add beef stock and reduce until thick, add frozen peas and corn some worcestershire. Put the mix into a deep square pan and cover with roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Cover with foil and cook on the egg til bubbles come up on the potatoes. Remove foil and sprinkle sharp cheddar cheese on top. Remove when the cheese is browned.
