<p />What is everyone cooking? I know a lot of briskets and butts will be Egged! Since there are only 3 of us, we are doing steaks, Trex style more or less. And corn on the cobb. And then something with lychees. After seeing previous posts of cobblers and crisps, I think I can use these things. Inside the fruit is white-ish so with blueberries and strawberries I think it will be very a patriotic dish. Anyone ever cook with these things???

    FlaGal,
We have only enjoyed "as is." Interested in knowing if you have any success cooking with them. Happy 4th! We are traveling to Dallas so who knows what will be our pleasure.

  • FlaGal,
I love those things, when we were kids we used to spend time at various beaches in the Sarasota area, and they used to grow everywere. I live in Tampa, and because we live right at the frost line, I have not had succes with growing them in my yard.[p]Best way is to eat them fresh, however, if you want to cook with them, try the link. They have a bunch of stuff to do with lychees.[p]Enjoy.

  • Pete,[p]Thanks! I live in Tampa too. A client of the law firm I work for owns a lychee farm down on Pine Island. I was also thinking maybe a tart with fresh fruit instead of cooked would be good. Happy Fourth!

I'm planning to go to two parties this weekend. Saturday's is potluck, and I think I'm going to keep it simple and do a mess of wings (maybe jerk, and one other style).[p]Sunday's a bring something if you want to type of party. I think I'm going to bring smoked meatloaf.

  • BluesnBBQ,[p]Hmmm sounds good, I am ready for the weekend to start NOW![p]BTW, if you have never been, you have to come down for the annual Tampa Bay Bluesfest. It's held the beginning of April and draws big names and great BBQ. We go every year.

    FlaGal,
I went to Sam's and came away with a brisket, a boneless leg of lamb and some country style ribs. I sense a lot of cooking coming up this weekend!
