pork butt cooking too fast?

about 9:30 i put 4 pork buts on my egg. the average weight is about 5.5 lbs. i rubbed them down with mustard and a rub and i put them in the refrigerator for about 3 hours. i pulled them out when i got home and left them out while i got the egg going.
i got the egg stable at 250 in about 30 minutes and i threw the butts on.
right now, they are all in the 130's and the temp hasn't gotten over 265 and that wasn't for long. it's been steady at 250-255 the rest of the time.
i've never cooked butts this small. is this because of the smaller size? i weas expecting a 12 - 14 hour cook and it's looking like 7 - 9 hours or possibly less?
thoughts???
thanks in advance.
cheers (with a brooklyn monster ale)

They may stay in the plateau stage for a long time. Hard to predict the plateau breakdown..but a least if if finishes early, they will hold for hours wrapped in foil and in a cooler. I have had several Butts that jumped up in temp quick and just stayed there for hours
-
For some reason butts cook a bit faster for me. It isn't uncommon for mine to take about 10 or so hours. You just don't know how long these will stay in the plateau. Not time to worry yet.
As long at the meat isn't touching they all should cook like a 5#'er.

the temp on the egg dropped down to about 210. i had closed the vent up a bit more than i had thought. opened it up a bit and when it gets back to 250, i'm going to bed for a couple hours. still in the high 130's.

hiccup.

Greetings,
If the average weight is about 5.5 no matter how many you have once they get to temp they cook as one. you could be done in 8-12 hours just relax and let the magic happen. -
I agree you never know how long they're gonna stay in the platuea. Have a cooler ready just incase they come off early and they'll be great!
-
Now I can't keep the temp down. Its going up, right now it's 340 and rising. Both vents closed, internal at 183
-
at 6:00 am, the egg was at 250, but at 7:30, it had dropped down to 210. i unloaded the butts and loaded in some more lump. right now i'm in the 150's and it's looking like this.....
-
wow that some serious butts on there
-
be careful, I did the same and then the temp got out of control

i had to. i was running out and the temp was going to continue to drop. i hope i put enough. i thought it was at 250, but it's only at about 225. i opened the vents up a bit. trying to eat this for lunch! -
Same thing with me. It will go up slowly and then spike. What's the internal?
-
i'm back at 250, now i'm just crossing my fingers these are ready by 1:00 or so.

high 150's to low 160's. -
you have some time left. Maybe you'll eat it for dinner
-
Kick it up to 300* and move things along a bit faster.
-
had the smallest one get ready first, so i pulled it and put it in the cooler for an hour...

Jason, looks great. What sauce did you use?
