Sugar Bear - learned about here - thanks!

A while back I read here about these little terra cotta Sugar Bears that you soak in water and then place in brown sugar bags to keep it moist. Seeing I don't use brown sugar much at all I had forgotten about it until tonight when I re-opened the bag for the first time in at least a year if not 14 months! I used to throw out bags as nuking them etc never worked for me - but Sugar Bears do!

Those are GREAT! I got one that has a hummingbird on it in AZ awhile back. Just be sure to soak it in water about every other month or it and your sugar will dry out.

thanks - I knew that trick of keeping some cookies "fresh" that I bake every December. I kept them going clear until mid-March.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

maybe in AZ - but up here in IL this bag has stayed sealed for 12 to 14 months in a dark cabinet if that makes a difference.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

The humidity level is much higher there, that could make a difference. I also keep my brown sugar in a dark cabinet and we use an evaportive cooler in the summer. But it does work really well here in the desert, if you dunk in water every couple of months!

We seem to go through enough, but what a cool idea!
