I thnk I can do it! I want to house both my large and mini eggs, with some storage under the mini (maybe a cabinet with doors)! Also want to have some work space between the two.[p]I think having something like JJ's table (in his honor), with open would work well! Anyone have any ideas pn overall length, wood to use etc.?[p]Smokey

I would build it out of Cypress. Lasts for ever and the bugs hate it. Clear coat with Poly to keep it from turning gray.[p]Lay all the eggs out and measure around them. Work out the height, length and depth. Remember to allow for a cement block at the bottom of the egg.[p]You can get the basic plans from the BGE website and modify from there.[p]Good luck.

Hey Damon,[p]I built this table last year. Nothing special, but it serves my needs and has two of the three eggs you will be housing. Mine was made of just # 2 pins and a nail gun. Holding up well in this Chi Town weather. I plan on putting a coat of paint on it, now that it has dried very well. Start to finish, just under 6 hours. Of course the bracing took 5 hours alone. :)[p]If I can help confuse ya, just give me a jingle.[p]Have fun man.[p]Mick
• The Naked Whiz,
One of the table surface was made out of some sort recycle for decking material. I am currious if it can handle the high heat for long smoking time?

• Smokey, Be sure and check out TNW's site for pics of lots of table variations.
I used pressure treated wood, Olympic stain, and ceramic floor tile on the top.[p]Chrispy Bob

Chrispy Bob,[p]I saw the picture of you table and it has given my some good ideas. Also saw a nice picture on the "P" site of a beautiful table, but I do not have near skilld needed to build anything that nice!

MickeyT,[p]That is not far from what I will build. I do not have a router and the whole for the egg intimidate me quite a bit (thus, it may be like the picture I posted ...open in front).

hho,
if anything, i'd worry about the short HIGH heat.[p]smoking is relatively low temp.
at smoking temps, the dome doesn't get very hot, certainly not hot enough to worry about.[p]you need clearance all the way around the egg, of about an inch or more. say inch and a half to be ultra safe.[p]and UNDER the egg, you need some non-combustible stuff. a patio block, slate, stone, whatever.[p]i'd advise against that recycled stuff cuz it's just plain odd to the touch, looks synthetic, etc.[p]but i don't think it'll melt any

• Smokey,
Depending on where you are putting the table, you might try a corner position like I built into my outdoor playroom. It worked better than I ever imagined that it would.[p]cornerEgg.jpg

pivotizer,[p]That's WAY cool. There is NO WAY I could do that (it's a lack of skill thing)
• Smokey,
Smokey,
If you are building something stationary you might consider stucco. You'd be amazed just how easy and forgiving stucco is to work with (I was). When you are done, you have a fireproof, waterproof island that can survive the elements.[p]Don't get carried away like I did and blow 3 straight months of weekends - there is 12 feet more island out of photo range.

Smokey, give me ring. I think we can design something up. I stilllike the idea of an egg crate to hous ethe eggs so that they could be transported. Maybe we should discuss this over a couple of beers.

• Smokey,
I noticed in the pitcher what looks like a Kamado along with several BGE. I am trying to choose between the two.
Any help on which is best.
