New egger! Just got one

Went to Ace Hardware and got my egg, thank you for all your help in making my decision! I got a large, but in haste in wanting it home and wanting to use it, I didn't notice it was missing the fire grate :blink: Now I have to go back tomorrow and pick up the darn thing. But it gives me sometime to calibrate the thermometer and decide on what to make.
BTW, also got the platesetter, but skipped the pizza stone. Was wondering if anyone uses the pizza stones sold in stores? I have one for the oven, that would fit perfectly.
Also decided to use the wax starters and want to try GrandpaGrub's light method.

congrats. On the stone, the pampered chef ones seem to crack, as for the BGE stones...no issues. Not sure about any others. First of all, Congrats to twovkay on the New EGG. As to the EGG being a hobby, I guess to some it is but to a lot of us it is what we use to cook. I was also thinking it a way of life.
Enjoy your new EGG, however you want to look at it.

I would get the stone. I didn't get mine yet, but we are ordering one. I'm worried to use the one from the house because I get the egg to 500 or 600* for pizza.

Thanks everyone for the info, will try the pizza stone I have. I've used it with temps as high as 500 and will purchase the BGE stone, once this one cracks or explode! It is not a pamper chef stone, thank heavens.
