Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.[p]While visiting a friend in CA, I had my first encoutner with a BGE and fell in love with it. I decided to buy one for myself and here is what I ordered.[p]Questions:
am I missing something?
am I buying the "wrong" things?
Would you suggest other combinations?[p]Large Big Green Egg
Large nest
Egg mate
Temp gauge
Dual function Metal top
Ash tool
Grill gripper
Large cover
Large V rack (part number VRP)
Porcelain grid brush
Ceramic Pizza stone (14")
14" EGGsettera)
Spring Assisted (L)
lump charcoal[p]I plan to use the BGE to BBQ meat, smoke and pizzas. [p]Again, all comments are greatly appreciated.

Newbie,[p]Your list looks pretty comprehensive. All I can see you need is a way to light that lump. Starter cubes?, electric starter?, MAPP???[p]Ken

Newbie,[p]Sounds like you have all the necessary components to start cooking. You may wish to add some other accessories after you use it for a while (MAPP torch, thermometers, guru, etc.) but as you go along you will know what you need. Look in the forum quite often as there is some great advice and welcome to the egg community.[p]Luder

Newbie, if you ain't got a BGE apron then you ain't no Egger![p]Just kidding, looks to me like you got all the toys.[p]Van

Newbie,
A platesetter would be nice. I use it all the time for my indirect cooks. Also nice for pizza. I think when used in conjunction with your pizza stone, the level of the stone becomes even with the rim of the egg, making it very easy to use a pizza peel to slide the pizza on and off the grill. You'll also LuvYourEgg!

Newbie,

Chair[p]Have fun!

You list "temp guage" which I assume is the one to monitor the dome temperature of the egg. You'll probably want to get something to monitor the temp of your meat too. Everyone seems to have their favorites. I use a Polder and have had good luck with it, except I have fried some probes. That can happen with any of them though.

Might want to add some heavy welding gloves for handling hot grids and such.
-
BamaBob,
I have 2 sets of gloves. One for touching the grill and other hot things and then I have a set for handling hot meat off the egg. Welders gloves are the thing imo for both tasks. The ones I touch the meat with a clean with Palmolive. The ones for the grill I just toss in the wash.
-
I use the gloves to pull pork and chicken also fwiw.

BucsFanJim,
contact the naked whiz about bottle openers

Do you mean leather welding gloves?
-
BamaBob,
No. They are actually called Cement workers gloves to be specific. Although some non-contracting folks use the term welding gloves. They have a shiny plasticy covering. They work great for working with hot meat that you want to pull or chop imo.

Newbie,[p]Get the plate setter, and disposable drip pans if you're gonna smoke.

I would add a BBQ Guru to make things easier. Makes it possible to control long cooks easier. You can get alnog without it but I really like mine.
Follow link below to find out more.
