Dome not flush

Eggcellent night to everyone!

I got my egg last week and am just putting it together now. It was a little daunting at first but it's quite easy once you get going - at least I think it is! For some reason, it seems the left side of the lid is about 1/8" - 1/4" offset from the right. I reached into the hole on top and things don't seem aligned quite right.

Is this OK as is? Is this why there is so much felt on the lid? Thank you!

  • Did you see the video, the part about indexing the top and bottom halves? The felt should be even all around both pieces...hope this helps.
  • It needs to be flush all the way around and pass the dollar bill test or you will likely fry your gasket.

Actually you will fry your gasket eventually but with the dome misaligned it will happen a lot faster.

make sure the band is up against the lip all the way around the dome and base.

The band is not tight against the lip on the dome in this pic

    Good luck with it.
