Pizza Dough

Had anyone ever tried to make pizza dough in a bread maker? I have a dough setting so I tried to do so tonight to prepare for pizza making on Thursday. I ended up with a sticky ball of mess. I added flour until I got to the point of where I could get into a baggie for storage. I think I may have completely messed it up though. I am wondering if anyone has any experience converting regular dough recipes into recipes for a bread maker.

As long as you get your mixture correct a bread maker should work just fine. I use the Zojirushi and get great results for French, Italian, and regular bread. I haven't mixed the pizza dough in it yet but will at some point in time.

Always make my pizza dough in the breadmaker. So much easier.
  • Bread makers are not the best for pizza dough. A Screw or fork mixer ($$$) or by hand (very gently and quick). Look up a wood oven pizza dough recipe and make sure all your ingredients are very cold (just activate you yeast in a small amount of water room temp water and add to the cold mixture). Only th oil is room temp if it calls for any. Your want it alittle tacky. Do not let it rise, bag the portions and put in the back of the fridge for a minimum of 36 - 48 hours. Try to hand spread the dough only and have it removed from the fridge 15-20min before spreading. For soft results higher heat like 600 and for crispy 425-475.

    good luck
