cuppy, Daven's Ceramic Supply in Atlanta (it is near the Egg place) has kiln shelves (like a pizza stone) that many eggers use for larger pizzas and baking. They do not break like many pizza stones tend to do in the Egg. They are on the net, or try your local ceramic supply. Also, kiln posts are useful to the Egg Baker....

cuppy, IMHO, I think if you'll start foodsavering some brisket, pulled pork, etc and try some homemade pizzas you'll never go back to them costco ones. If you buy the pre-made pizza dough you'll be surprized at how quick and easy it is to throw one together. You can easily have one ready to go into the egg before the egg is up to temp and there is absolutely nothing wrong with cooking and eating one then put a second one in or just hold the first in a warm oven. Pizza is one of the many things that I initially said would be a waste of time and lump to do in the egg and have now been proven wrong...pizza, wings, and meatloaf are 3 examples and if anything they are equally as exceptional in the egg just like steaks, briskets, and pulled pork.

cuppy,
The large Egg is only 18.5 inches or so across. I'd say a 16" stone is about as large as you want to go or you will be blocking your airflow and will have a devil of a time getting the temp up to pizza temps. You don't want to put a cold stone in a hot cooker, so I think 16" is it.[p]TNW
The Naked Whiz -
tn slagamater,the naked whiz, chet,
all right. thanks . and yes, i did buy some fire brick (5 of them) and they work fine for indirect cooks, but have yet to do brisket, hard to find brisket more than 4 lbs. they trim all the fat off. but, i did do beer can chicken , came out real good , but din't get a crispy skin. . yes, i did find a good recipe for pizza crust that i did in regular oven. now want to try pizza in the egg. ah, the old girl brought a couple cosco's pizza home we did in oven. but, yes, I bet homemade pizza would be much better. since it's hard to find pizza stones in local stores, and when i did, like bge only go up to 15 in. i'm going to find the site you suggested in atlanta and see if theyll ship one up here to
s. central penna. sounds like the one i want. MUUCHO THANX
