Its offical....We bought the first EGG from the dealer in Fairbanks, AK TODAY!! My lovely wife gave the large egg, large tile top table, and pile of EGG-cessories to me for my 56th birthday. (...a little early...but Im not complaining..) We will be trying to keep within the weight watcher guidelines, (well mostly) and are looking forward to participating in the forum. By from Alaska for now, happy grill-in..Dan & Gloria.

Until July of last year I didn't know much about Fairbanks. Then we took our dream vacation which started in Fairbanks then kept going south until we got back home.

The driver who met our group at the airport said we should go to a Salmon Bake. So we did and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Also had a beer on a deck bar overlooking a river near the airport.

But we had just left Houston's 96° weather seeking some nice cool Alaska weather. Only we encountered your 94° weather. Thanks a lot....

We didn't see much of Fairbanks but it was the first place where we encountered extremely friendly people who were obviously proud of their state. I hope you were one of those who said hello to us.

Oh yea, congratulations on becoming an Egghead. You and your wife and friends are in for a wonderful adventure for the rest of your lives.

Hey chechako. Welcome to the forum and the egg. You will love it. Used to live in Fairbanks (Eielson actually) in 1970. Will be interested to see how this ceramic holds up to 70 below. Bet it'll do just fine. You might want to consider selling moose burgers off the egg at the Malamute saloon. That would difinately be a first and a great way to spread the flavor of the egg around. Enjoy and congratulations. Many wonderful cooks await you. :)

Congrats on your new egg and happy birthday. You are a lucky one I had to buy both of mine but that is okey. Have a great Easter and welcome aboard.

  • Welcome from a fellow newbie in Acworth, GA.
I pick up my extra large BGE tomorrow and will begin working on my table soon.
  • Welcome to the forum. You have to promise to post a picture in the dead of winter next year with a thermometer showing 40 below (or more) and you cooking. My brother used to live there, and I don't know if I could do it given the stories he told.
