Quick! Used BGE
Booking It
Posts: 53
The husband found a large BGE on Craigslist with a table for about $400. Purchased new, the whole shebang would be well over $1200 in my area. Obviously this is a steal.
The picture the owner sent us shows obvious weather damage and overall poor maintenance. I don't want to post the picture here since it's not mine to post. But it looks like there are rust and white colored splotches all over the inside. A new grid (which I would buy anyway because I want cast iron) and daisy wheel would need to be purchased for sure (the daisy wheel is totally rusted).
My question is this: Could the rust and white be cleaned and/or scrubbed out to make the inside "smooth"? I'm thinking it would need a lot more than just an atomic burn to clean it out. I haven't seen it in person yet.
Any thoughts?

Why would there be rust inside. I think you answered your own question on price. in Tampa, you can get a large with the nest, side things, ash tool and a couple other things for 1000.00 A table in poor shape would be worth not much.

Eggs by the bay has their demo for 599 with a nest. That's what I paid for my large by itself 3 years ago.

I, too, was questioning the rust inside. It was a mess. Ugh!
Thanks for all of the extremely quick replies! As soon as I saw the picture I knew it wouldn't be worth it. But I want an egg NOW!
The Peoria Eggfest is the weekend before school lets out in June, so I had been waiting for that because then I have the whoooooolllllleeee summer off to do nothing but play with it.
Thank you all for being my voice of reason.

Hello from Dunlap! Where you be? Glad to hear you'll be attending the Peoria Eggfest. BTW Hearth & Patio has a special deal if you buy one that weekend and cook on it at the Eggfest. Are you with D150?Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
