Sandwich press for the egg?

I have in mind that I'd like to try a certain sandwich or two on the egg, but they really need to be pressed...certain things are just better smooshed you know... :silly: So, I'm thinking there are probably a variety of implements one could use as a make-shift panini press, but I'm leaning toward a SAD/cast iron iron? Or, I guess I could just sit another one of my cast pieces on it...any other McGivered ideeerrrs out there?

I just use the bottom of a CI skillet (clean, of course, and greased a bit).

I have a cast iron waffle iron that was made for a pot belly wood stove that would work really good.I have it at my office and will post a picture tomorrow.

You could get two of these and cut the handle off of one so you could lay it upside down. Or one of these and a ribbed skillet.

Here is what I use.



This particular griddle is flat on the other side so I can cook things for an un-pressed sandwich.

you should give it to me and get one of them nice NEW pans.

look at the smooth-ground bottom. can you even get them like that new these days?

Very Nice I've been showing your chicken coop to everyone who will look - I'm determined to get me an outdoor kitchen (of sorts) this summer, and while I will not get anything nearly as nice as yours , I figure, shoot high, and see what I can get!!! :laugh: At this point, we are extending my deck 4 x 12; from there we are deciding whether to build something in, or build a portable table for my large and (soon to be small).

Thanks for the complement on the Coop. It did turn out to be a fun place to cook.

Truth is, it really didn't cost that much to build. I already had the Eggs and accessories so all I needed was a floor, walls and roof. Oh yea, and some plumbing and some electricity and come countertops and some cabinets and some lights and a refrigerator and a draft beer machine and a margarita machine and ....... lets just say 'other stuff.'

I could send you some photos and you can build your own for under $2k. Or if you can figure out how to make me much younger and in better shape I'll come build it for you LOL.

If we have another Coop Party, you will have to come and enjoy the entire Chicken Ranch Eggsperience.
