shoulders and ham

just returned from the butcher shop with the last of 8 boston butts.
he asked if ive ever done a fresh ham as pulled pork. i have not and dont know anything about it.
will fresh ham or shoulder work for low n slow pulled pork?

    jwitheld, you can use a fresh ham (hind leg)for a low and slow, but, not very easy to pull (due to lack of fat/marbling), so it is easier to slice thin and serve that way. It will need sauce, as it is very dry at that temp. Pork Shoulder Picnic CAN be used for pulled pork, cook same as the Boston Butt.

    was afraid the ham would be too lean. but then sliced pork is good too.
