Ok, my mother-in-law asked me to cook steak for dinner. I said it would be fine if it wasn't raining. I don't like cooking in the rain. Little did I know it was one steak. So 96er maybe exaggerating a bit. But this sucker weighs in about 3 and a half pounds! So here was the plan. Cook it like I would any other steak. High temp sear, then take off for a breather, and finally grill it with a mesquite chunk. Cow Lick Steak rub was the seasoning of choice for this monster![p]In the past I have been asked why my egg is blue. Its blue because it was made that way. Here's the first pic while it was cooling down for the grilling part showing it is in fact a Big Green Egg. Or, I guess its really a big blue egg, hehehe![p]96er6.jpg[p]With that out of the way let's get started. Here are 3 pics below showing the size of this monster prior to going on Mr. Humpty. As you can see it already has the rub working its majic.[p]96er2.jpg[p]96er1.jpg[p]96er3.jpg[p]Here's where I used a crane to flip the monster. You can see on my Large egg how big it is across. This guy almost covers the entire 18 1/2 inch cooking grid by itself.[p]96er4.jpg[p]And here is where it is resting before going on for the final grilling. Just look at how it glistens! I'm making me hungry all over again.....[p]96er5.jpg[p]And the final product. Boy was this ever tender and juicy. I was worried about that seeing how large the cut was. I should remember not to worry when cooking on the egg. It was truely delicious. I hope you all enjoyed these pics as I had taking them. John[p]96er7.jpg

Hugh Jass,[p]Sorry about posting so many pics. Its my ISP. Sometimes they serve 'em up right away and other times they take forever.[p]The egg is blue because I bought it in Florida. I was told a couple stories about this. Pick your favorite. First, Floridians didn't want to have a green egg by the pool so they made a blue one just for them. Or, its because someone thought a Florida Gator blue egg would look cool. Either way I dig it![p]And I felt like John Candy by the time I got to the end of the steak. Grisle and all..... hehe

  • fiver29,
Why in the world would you want to subdivide a piece of meat like that. Leave it whole and go hide somewhere. Don't share, no matter how much they beg.
