When I was in HG Hills Friday after work this little butt just jumped in my cart or should I say I just reached for it as I decided right then and there it was time to finally do one. Well it was pretty darn easy cook and the family loved the results as did I. At .99lb it sure was allot cheaper than buying it at the BBQ joint. I do wish it had more smoky flavor however, I used 4 orange sized pieces of hickory in the large and got a pretty good smoke ring but would have liked a little more smoke flavor so I will use a few more chunks next time.

Anyway I was a little surprised when a 4.2lb butt took 9.5 hours to get to 195*. Also as my wife is always rushing my food coming off the egg I didn't do the towel rest but just let it sit for about 5 minutes before using forks to pull it apart; does letting it rest in foil and towels in the cooler help it or is that step only for keeping it warm until time to eat? Will do again for sure, will a little bigger next time but may need to buy somewhere else to get the size I want 7-9lber.
