Older Clay Kamoda

I just bought an older "orange egg" from a guy on craigslist. He brought it back from Japan with him in the early '70s. I have my large BGE up at our cabin, and I plan on keeping Mr. Orange at home. He mentioned that he was told since it is clay I should keep it out of the rain and snow. I'm also a little concerned about doing high temp cooks with this.
I guess I'm looking for help from anyone who might have some experience with these.

Thanks,
Mac
