I am looking for a Garlic Sauce for lamb. I have had this "sauce" at a Mediterranean/Lebanese restaurant. It was for dipping. Very garlicky.

Any help be appreciative.

Thanks.

Gary

    Something like tzatziki?

Does this help? or are you looking for a traditional Tzatziki sauce with garlic or somethin else?

Sauce, BBQ, Mop, Lamb, Beer, Leg-O-Lamb, Thirdeye

I'm with Sundown on this one, as an alternate to butterflying it leave it on the bone, marinate (or just season) and cook it slow. You can cook it until sliceable (130°-145°) or until pullable (180°+) I make a beer based mop for mine, but something with some herbs would be good too.

    INGREDIENTS:
    1 Can Beer
    1/2 cup cider vinegar
    1/3 cup water
    1/3 cup apple juice
    1/3 cup canola oil
    1 diced onion
    3 Cloves Garlic, minced
    1 Tbs Worcestershire Sauce
    1 tsp kosher salt
    1 tsp black pepper
    1 tsp cayenne

    Procedure:
    1 Heat until dissolved.

    Recipe Type
    Sauce

No, it's not tzatziki. That is good too but that has Dill. This was all garlic taste. Thanks.

I have put dill in some tzatzikis that I've made. Just suggesting.

  • Gary,

I'm pretty sure I know exactly what you're talking about. I haven't made it myself, yet, but I found a link that looks like the genuine article. There are some killer Mediterranean restaurants in the Detroit area, especially in Dearborn. My favorite lunch, when I worked down there was a lunch combo of Lamb Kebabs, Rice Pilaf, Tabbouleh and Hummus served with hot pitas and garlic sauce for the Lamb.

I watched the video in this link and it looks just like what they serve at Cedarland on West Warren in Dearborn. The sauce is stark white and has the consistency of a very dense mayonnaise.

I hope this helps. I'll probably give it a try myself sometime soon.

    Cheers,

there is a simple one called toum or toumeh or toumhe, i think ive seen it spelled other ways too. smash 4 to 6 cloves garlic in a morter with a little kosher salt, add maybe a third cup oil maybe a little less, squeeze a lemon in it. its served on the side for breads, drizzling on hummus etc. you want to let it set for a while and add a little more lemon just before serving. if you make the tebouleh salad, you make this and also use the ingrediants to marinate your lamb, makes prep easy as all the ingrediants are out and preped for all the courses. not sure thats the one your looking for but i think its the basic dipping sauce ive seen in the lebanese places around here
