A while back, I posted on my adventures with naan on the BGE (see here at http://www.eggheadforum.com/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&func=view&id=821814&catid=1 ); the ease & tastiness led me to try out pita bread a few days ago. I used a simple pita dough from "Flatbreads & Flavors" by Alford & Duguid. A half-moon baking stone allows you to turn out flatbreads while grilling protein and/or sides, so I'm planning to tackle other recipes in this book. Check out my part-whole-wheat pita and lamb patties:

And the resulting sandwiches, stuffed with those lamp patties, tomato sauce, yogurt sauce, and grilled onions:

That looks outstanding. I've just started playing around with a number of different fry breads on the egg and am inspired by your post. I'll definitely be trying a part-wheat pita soon! Thanks for sharing
  • The more I bake with King Arthur's white whole wheat, the more I like it....I've taken to substituting 1/3 to 1/2 white whole wheat flour for the flour in virtually all the bread recipes I bake these days.
