Another New Owner
Just got a large BGE a week ago after reading this forum. So far cooked trout, salmon, and some blackened tuna, will do a pork loin tomorrow. Two questions: 1. Are you supposed to get a video with the egg and 2. Does the newer hinge have a release latch? The food I have cooked so far has turned out great, thanks in part to the advice on this forum.[p]Jim

Yes, you should get a video with your egg. As for the hinge, dealers with older stock are probably still selling eggs with the latching hinge. You can ask your dealer to swap, but nothing says they have to. Worst comes to worst you can buy a spring hinge from BGE. While the spring hinge is more convenient, the latching "auto-lock" hinge ain't bad as long as you always remember to release the latch before shutting the lid. I've had mine for 3 years and so far haven't popped the lid out yet.[p]TNW

OK, now the you have the best smoker in the world, you need one more thing. The best control device for it in the world. That would be a BBQ Guru. It makes your cooking wonderful in so many ways.
