Though there's still snow on the ground and it was a bit cool to start the mini-fest today went well and the day warmed up. There were six eggs cooking today and food galore! There was also a steady stream of people stopping by.

Thanks to Jerry and Tracy at Hearth and Patio for their hospitality and the help from Tyler and Eric too. It was a good day! and a nice practice run for the 8th annual Peoria, IL Eggfest on June 5th.

ah geeez - I thought I had more pictures from today, but something went wrong. I did salvage this one and seeing that 6 yard birds gave up their arms for this batch I feel that I MUST honor them! Hey, guys - you went out in a blaze of glory!

Thanks...I swear that batch as well as the next one just like it flew off the plates faster than those yard birds could ever fly! Bye Bye Birdie, we hate to see you go...

  • Looks like you had a good time, Ron. Did you make anything other than wings?

Since this was the first ever of this mini-event several of us had conversed that since we didn't know what turn out to expect we would go on the lighter side as for the amount of food. I for instance egged 7 pounds of wings plus a triple chocolate cake. John (Lab Lover) egged some wonderful sticky buns, 3 Cornish Game Hens and a slab of salmon. Seth (Rooster) did some apple thingees, plus some delicious meat loafs and new potatoes. Tim (Eggin in Peoria) finished off a pork butt he had started the night before. Also there were some newbies who cooked beef tenderloins and other assorted food. Sorry if I forgot anybody...oh - and the dealer has a new indoor wood fired pizza oven and they baked several Nick-n-Willies pizzas. There was even some presmoked venison sausage.

I would be remiss not to mention the 800 pound gorilla also there Saturday...the Viking stainless steel outdoor kitchen people had a corporate truck there with thousand$ and thousand$ worth of their equipment. Two reps cooked several things on their gas grills...

  • Thank you Ron and everyone else who attended the event. Hopefully we will have one in June that's 4x the size of this last one!
