I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum for all the helpful advice. Everyone has been so great to respond when I've asked for help. What a great group! No digital camera or I would post pictures. Sunday we had kids over and I did my first ABT's (SpringChicken style :-) Everyone raved over these!) Also, Chicken Legs with Dizzy Pig Jamaican FireWalk, cooked direct on a raised grid. Pinto beans and corn on the cob. They were fantastic! On Monday, for hubby and me, we did 1 1/2 inch filets T-Rex method w/Dizzy Cowlick. Perfect medium rare and soooo tender! By far better than any steak I have ever had. Then to finish in High Style, lobster tails (Dwell in the Shell). MmmmmmmmMmmmm! Eggcellent! We will do this again! Asparagus and baked potato on the side and my husband couldn't rave enough! Thanks for all the help! The Egg Rocks!!

    Tanya,
The best part of owning a Big Green Egg is making it do all the things you learn from this Forum. It's where I first learned about ABT's, and chicken and steak, and ribs, and salmon, and pork loins, and .... Well, you know what I mean. The list is endless and keeps growing. Happy to have added my two cents worth to your weekend.[p]Spring Chicken

  • Spring Chicken,
the problem i'm finding now, is that with the 'egg recipe repetoir' getting so long, and my available time to egg usually limited to about twice to three times a week, it is difficult to decide what to cook, and i find it is now sometimes a couple of months between cooking the same thing twice. ..this is both good and bad. . ..so when i do 'egg' i try to do 2 or 3 things. . .like monday night i roasted corn and then did a peach crisp in my large, while trex'ing a couple of big new york strips in my small. . .[p]

    Spring Chicken,
My problem is, every time I get on the forum, I usually have something planned to cook, start reading the posts and think, "Wow, that sounds good!", then hurry to the store to get that item and cook double what I had planned! All for just me and the hubby! LOL. He gets so aggravated, thinks I'm wasteful. However, I also learned from this forum about the foodsaver. My freezer is stuffed! We could live for six months with fantastic things cooked on the egg and never have to fire it up. But that's noooo fun!!! I just love starting it up, the smoke, the smell, watching the temp, opening it up and SMELLING, Mmmm. It's addictive! When I get the funds, I'd like to get a small BGE and try doing smaller portions but multiple things. I read many warnings on this forum about wanting to add to the family and now know why. Lol! BUT, I want to get a medium for my daughter first so she can enjoy. I got a medium for my son when he got married and his older sister is very jealous. Decisions, Decisons!! Thanks again ya'll!!
