phily area lobster alert/lobster help

Unknown
edited November -1 in EggHead Forum
Genuardi's (the philly area super) is selling 1-1.5 lb lobsters for $6 a lb. Probably the best price all year. You have to have a Genuardi food card to qualify. I just bought five. The regular price was $100. the sale price was $36. [p]Now I'm trying to figure out how to grill them. I know the Houndog method for grilling lobster tails. These are fresh and whole. Do I just put the bugs on the grill as is? if so, what temp? Do I split them in half? If so, do I take anything out after I split them? What temp and how long? Help....

    mr earl,
I feel your pain, ship a few to me and try my best to come up a good method.[p]CWM

  • mr earl,
I would split the Lobbies down the middle.........crack the claws( on their edges) with a meat clever or a knive with enough weight. Put lemon (lightly) butter on tail and body meat........place in egg set up indirect. I would cook them on the high end (400) for 8-10 minutes.........check the firmness around 5 minutes. Good luck.

  • Midnight Smoker,[p]Tried'em your way, although I didn't do them indirect. They weren't too bad, but I think I'll do'em steamed next time.[p]thanks for the tips.
