Deetwood,
for low and slow i go about halfway up the fire ring with a level load of lump. .. that will last 24 hours or more in the 200 - 250 range easy. ..

Deetwood,
Basically as much as I can, which is halfway up the ring. Don't skimp, it doesn't hurt to fill 'er up.[p]TNW
The Naked Whiz -
mad max beyond eggdome,[p]For every low and slow I've ever done I have followed Elder Ward's suggestion. Fill it up! Trying to reload lump when a fire has gone out isn't any fun. What have you to loose by loading it up? You can still use the leftover lump when you're into your next cook.
Sort of like going on a car ride, why not fill it up in the beginning the later you don't have to go look for a gas station.
Max may have an idea but what the heck?
