Can I use Bourbon as a marinade?

Hello I’m a newbie here. My wonderful wife got me a large BGE for my fiftieth and I have several burning questions, quite literally. My favourite steak recipe calls for the use of bourbon as a marinade, I am little leery of attempting this at the heats that the BGE can reach. The Video that came with the Egg suggested that I cook the steaks ate 600 to 650. Tonight will be my first use and I’ll do rib-eyes. I see pork ribs tomorrow if the weather holds. I would be grateful for any and all input.

Welcome to the "CULT" Yes you can do a bourbon marinade as the heat will not flame off the alcohol, however for your first few cooks you should keep the temp under 375F or so and allow the gasket to set up. Some first timers melt the adhesive and then have to place a new gasket. Chicken is a nice first cook You will have plenty of time to do the high heat steaks, pizza etc in thye near future.

You bet ! Bourbon is a great marinade. It gives a wonderful flavor to the meat.
Here's a bourbon soaked chuck roast I did a few weeks ago.

Like a bone-head I didn't get around to reading this until after the cook. The steaks turned out great mind you. I will check out the gaskets tomorrow in the light. I cooked spuds and veggies for about an hour under 400 before I kicked up the temp to the six hundred range. The stakes were among the best I have ever cooked and I've been grilling a long time mind you on other Charcoal burners. I was amazed at the ease and speed of lighting. Thank-you for your advice even though I didn't check it out before hand. I hadn't planned on using the bourbon on the first attempt and didn't. The Cooker was set up for me and I skimmed the instructions to insure it was assembled properly but didn't see any thing on the cooking low temps. The Egg was assembled Tuseday so it had been sitting for a couple of days in any case before use.

Thank-you. I did the rib-eye without bourbon the first time and was amazed at the quality of the final meal. very moist stakes and the sides were eggcellent. Thanks for your response. Bourbon in the future.
