Mini - how do you cook indirect?
Di
Posts: 395
Continuing discussions on the advantages of owning a Mini BGE. I think it would be perfect to have one for times when I don't want to use the LBGE.
I've seen the mini woo ring set-up on the ceramic grill store site and the small pizza stones on amazon.
But, with no placesetter, how do you cook indirect?

I use the pizza stones as my indirect barrier. We did 17 mini pizzas last year at the Ocala Eggfest.

when roasting stuff, I typically cook on a raised grid with an aluminum foil barrier on the bottom grid.

(this stuffed lamb tasted great, BTW)
I know this didn't help, but I couldn't resist. -
Just get a Small.

Di,
I have a large, small and mini. I use my large mostly on the weekends only. The small and mini get used almost equally the rest of the time. Plus we like the mobility of the mini and the fact it uses very little lump. It is nice having choices when cooking. -
I agree.
There's just the two of us and sometimes we only want to cook a small amount of food. I think the small bge would be too big for what I want and would enjoy the mobility of the mini. I don't have a good place to set the small and I would be able to move the mini around. -
there are alot of people cookin alot of good food on the mini, I'm sure many more will chime in with plenty of pics to make your decision much easier...I personally own a small & a large, I'm looking to add the mini for tailgating and trips to the lake.......get a mini

304 stainless wire holds stone to grid .. second stone on grid for pizza . or just a fire brick

-
Great! Thanks for the tips!
One more question, what is the brick? -
1/2 thick fire brick should be available at your egg dealer.[as a 3 pk] if not a fireplace/stove shop or masonry supply ..
always use a drip pan on them ,, they are porous and will suck up grease and smoke and burn for a long time if they get soaked with chicken grease.. actaully if you let them get soaked with grease you can light them with a weed burner and they will burn for about 20 minutes like a big square candle,, guess how i know that
