like i said below. ..your boys played great tonight....russians didn't even show up....hell, cindy line didn't even contribute a point, and they still put up 7 goals.....a very impressive showing!!!. .. and yes...canadian D held OV and his line to absolutely nothing....only thing good is OV and semin get to come home and rest up a couple of days early for the rest of the season... .

now i guess i become a fan of team USA again LOL .. .

We always chose to be a Commonweath country.When we decided to choose independence, it was done without any bloodshed. I always wonder what wouldn't have happened if you guys chose to stay with the Commonwealth and secceded by choice. War of 1812, World War I and II. Korea, Vietnam.

we still would have been in all those wars steven...(except maybe 1812)...remember, WWI and II we came to the aid of the brits, so we would have been there regardless of whether we were part of the commonwealth or not....korea/vietnam, it was the old 'domino' theory, had to stop the spread of communism....at the point the commonwealth was too weak to do anything to stop the spread....hell, churchill was pissed at us for being to naive to march on berlin in 45...

btw.. .what the hell does all this have to do with hockey??? LOL .. .remember, if we hadn't "won" the cold war....it would still be american and canadian college kids vs the 'red army' hockey team. . hell, tretiak would probably STILL be in goal for them, kicking both our asses!!! LOL .. .

I respectfully disagree. Obviously the American Revolution doesn't happen, War of 1812. Do you think that the Kaiser and Adolf would really have the guts to face a unified front. Same deal with Ho Chi Minh and the rest. Kruzchev, having the guts to say "we will bury you". History is history but if you can say what if?

I haven't been following all that closely but didn't the US young guns beat team Canada like a few days ago?

Isn't this the 30th anniversary of the Olympics where US won gold for the first time beating the Russians in the semi finals? I wonder if any of the current US guys saw that or are aware of that game?

I was just kidding about that. Just about everyone I think knows about that here in the States. That was a significant turning point in The United States history. It not only helped hockey along but it started a great sense of national pride when the country really needed it. I remember being 10 years old and watching that and feeling how special that time was.
