Mountain Oysters and Buffalo tongue are 2 of my favorite things! I would fry the oysters and boil the tongue, though.

The tounge was fried, the MO's too, the jalepenos and Saltwater oysters were pickled.I guess they had to pickle the saltwater oysters to make the journey.it was interesting.the most ordered meal was TALLOW/MARROW eaten outta split bones!

Growing up I knew a bunch of "old world" folks that went after marrow. For me a couple Millers and Mt. Oysters used to be dinner at a country bar when I was stationed at Offutt AFB.

Reminds me that when I was growing up, there were these two sisters who grew up on a cattle farm. They were beautiful girls but once the word got out that one of their favorite foods was Mountain Oysters, no guy in town would ask them out. It took going off to college and away from the local gossip for them to recover their social status.

There isn't any saltwater where mountain oysters are "grown". They are delicious beyond imagination though.

I used to buy my mountain oysters in a little Mexican market across the river next to the bullfight ring. One day they looked a bit different and the butcher told me "Seenior, some times the bull, he does not always lose"

The Mountain Oysters were fried. The regular oysters were pickled.I have had the Mountain Oysters and you are correct.Very tasty.
-
They serve 'em in the beer joints and skull orchards around here. Call 'em steer fries. They're supposed to be good, but I'll have to take someone else's word.

I learned what Rocky Mountain Oysters were in the 1st grade.
My uncle was in a band The Rocky Mountain Oysters Bluegrass Music. He sent me a T-shirt for Christmas when I was small. The teacher made me turn it inside out. Naturally, I needed to know why the instant I got home
Never ever ate one though. -
That's precious!!!
