Pizza Peel Question

I'm going to pick up a Pizza Peel. Which is the best, Wood or Aluminum? Is 12" X 14" big enough? My pizza stone for the LG-BGE is 14" diameter.

personal preference kind of thing but I like my metal one for putting on and taking off, but my wooden one for cutting and serving from.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

I have the aluminum. $14.50 @ a restraunt supply place locally. I think it is the 14". Works great for my purposes.

Get two of these instead...easier to use IMHO...and if you have two the other pie can be made while the other is cooking...

I have a 14" wood. Size is fine. Next time I will buy an aluminum. Easier to keep clean. I cut mine on an aluminum pizza pan

I think they are cheaper at Target and no shipping. -RP

my wooden peel seems to work better and better the more times i cut a pie on it, the slash marks seem to hold a little more flour. i hate cornmeal bottoms and just use flour on the peel now. my peel has no finish on it which helps the grain in the wood hold flour when its rubbed onfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

You are right Randy...But for some reason I can't copy & paste the Target page...

I would avoid one of the units with the extended handle. No need for it since you aren't reaching into a deep pizza oven. It would just get in the way.

Ron,
I would hate to see what I would do if someone put a knife to my peel. -
Thanks to all for the input.

One word of caution if you choose a metal peel...I find them to be more slippery. Also most every metal one I've ever seen has a round handle so your grip can shift. To overcome that I used an inexpensive golf club handle wrap and it works! Just the same to date I have now dumped two finished pizzas!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

Thanks, I'll get a grip for it too.

I do too, but spread my love around!
Actually each peel has some neat features, but drawbacks too. I like the flexibility to choose.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time! -
I have an aluminum on.it's easy to clean and sometimes I heard the wooden ones can warp.

Show off...
