  • Air flow. When you close the top vent, fire out the bottom.

On more than one occasion when I knew my egg was choking for air I would use my wiggle stick up from the bottom and I would poke up and suddenly fire would shot out the bottom! :woohoo: I swear If I were wearing shorts It would singe the hair off my knees let alone my hands! :woohoo: I have seen it chug along first out the top no dfmt then out the bottom wide open flames shooting three feet or more. I don't have any children but, I would be very cautious. If a flame were to shoot out when a child was in front they could be singed. :( I clean out my egg for almost every cook but, it still happens. Tim

Still air flow, that is lack there of.

Use a wiggle rod to clear the holes in the fire grate and wiggle a little space in the lump. When you do you will leap past 350° pretty quick.
