Hi All,[p]My BGE is now one week old and 5 meals used.[p]I just bought a polder that does the grill and meat temp with the 30 inch cable how is it used with the egg. Does the cable make the egg lid not shut tight together or is there a special setup.[p]Roundman

No special setup. Just put the probe in the thickest part of the meat (or wherever you want to measure temp) and let the probe wire run out between the lid and the bottom. Seals up just fine.[p]Jim

Roundman,[p]Don't worry about the cable.[p]I have not seen many good reports from those with the polder that has the grill temp feature. It is not the same as a dome temp and it tells you very little since it is highly influenced by many other factors. It would come in handy if you were trying to cook a brisket to 200° and you see that the surrounding air temp is 190° - you would increase the dome temp to compensate.[p]Tim

Roundman, be sure to wrap the part of the cable (but not the probe) that is inside the egg with aluminum foil. This protects it from heat in the egg. Unprotected, the cable will burn out above ? 400 degrees.
