treat it like a self cleaning oven. . .let the temps go off the scale for about 1/2 hour. .. trust me, it'll be clean. . .

Tony,[p]Dont use solvent inside the egg. The ceramic is porous and your food will end us smelling and tasting like the cleaner.[p]Light the egg with plenty of charcoal. Open top and bottom vent full and let it get as hot as possible. It will clean itself.[p]

Are you talking about the inside of the egg or the grill?
If you are talking about the interior of the egg, then the previous two responses are the way to go. You could also gently use a stiff brush to brush the interior walls after a high burn to nock off anything that is left.[p]If you are talking about just the grill, then you could use Oven Cleaner. However, I would wash the grill thoroughly prior to using put food directly on the grill and run the grill through a high temp burn by itself. All this should make sure that there are no residual chemicals left on the grill. Also, I think that either Home Depot or Lowe’s has a product from Goop-Off that is made for grills. I was thinking about giving it a try.[p]Hope this helps,

RhumAndJerk, I have used that product from Goop Off and it's pretty good. It still requires a bit of elbow grease but it at least gives you nicer results when you do. One thing I did was to buy one o fthose plastic pot bases for large pots. It's big enough that I can lay the grill in it to soak. I spray with the Goop off stuff, let it sit for a while and then fill with soapy water and start applying the elbow grease. It does work.

RhumAndJerk,[p]I was talking about the interior. I'll try using a brush and a high temp burn as suggested. As for the grill, I use that "goo-off" that you mentioned. Good stuff, just hold the grill with the ash tool, spay the goo-off, let sit for about 10min, then spay off with a hose.[p]Tony
